Yu Darvish is scheduled to come off of the disabled list on April 5, but Nick Martinez is still slated to start that game.
'If everything continues to go on schedule, he will come off on the fifth,' Ron Washington said. 'But that doesn't mean Martinez gets kicked out.'
Washington has not decided if Darvish will make a rehab start against live hitters before pitching for Texas.
Behind the dish
Washington wouldn't announce a catcher going forward. He will make the decision on who starts Tuesday's game to catch Martin Perez after Monday's game is completed.
He said Geovany Soto will be Darvish's catcher when Soto returns from the DL, but would not commit to a catcher for Darvish in the interim.
Mitch Moreland earned the start on Opening Day over Michael Choice at designated hitter. Moreland had better numbers against left-handed pitchers in 2013, but Washington wouldn't say whether it was a platoon situation.
'We face two lefties in Tampa, and you may not see [Moreland] in the lineup in either of those games,' Washington said.
