An arrest warrant has been issued for an assistant band director at Godley High School, who is facing charges of having an improper relationship between an educator and a student, the Johnson County Sheriff's office reported Monday.
Sheriff Bob Alford said Taylor Duane Cathey was expected to surrender at the Johnson County Jail. Bail is set at $75,000.
Alford said Cathey and the famale student 'have been having an ongoing friendship starting approximately one year ago.'
On Cathey's school website, he said he is Director of Percussion for the Godley ISD, assists the high school marching band, durects the concert band and basketball band, and teaches the GHS Percussion Ensemble.
Cathey's page also says he is the district's journalism teacher and advisor fot the high school yearbook.
According to his online biography, Cathey previously worked for the Burkburnett ISD and for a school district in Louisiana.
He has a wife and a five-year-old son, according to the biography.
