Fire crews are still working to put out a blaze that erupted around 2:50 p.m. at a paper plant in Carrollton.

Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Marshal MarkHaselhoff said the three-alarm fire was contained, but not yet out at about 5 p.m.

It appears the fire started in an area of recycled paper materials at the International Paper Company at 2000 Country Club Drive outside the main building.Haselhoff says the burn area is a ways away and has not damaged the building. The fire sent white smoke billowing into the air that was visible for miles.

Roughly 25 to 30 units responded to the call, with outside help from Coppell, Addison, Farmers Branch and Lewisville.

Haselhoffsays the firefighters are continually rotating in order to avoid heat exhaustion. No one was injured in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

There was a similar three-alarm fire at the same facility almost two years ago on August 8, 2011.
