DALLAS The Dallas Independent School District put the focus on South and West Dallas Tuesday by presenting its Imagine 2020 program.

The focus will be on schools that feed into the Lincoln, James Madison and L.G. Pinkston high schools.

It's designed to bring additional support to students and teachers so students will be better prepared for the future.

"At the end of the day, it is going to take people," Superintendent Mike Miles said. "It is going to take people and community to come in and really help turn the course of things in urban areas."

The official kick-off of "Imagine 2020 Today's Dream. Tomorrow's Reality" is this Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium at SMU.

Miles and the district have another reason to celebrate. DISD's School for the Talented and Gifted has once again been ranked the best public high school in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

The rankings are based on test scores and by how well schools educate their minority and economically disadvantaged students.
