DALLAS -- Valentine s Day has local chocolate makers hard at work getting ready for the busy season.
That means making a lot more than just your standard chocolate for North Texans.
Near the Bishop Arts District on Tyler and Davis, you ll find a small store called CocoAndre. While parts of the outside building in the 800 block of Davis may look commonplace, it s anything but inside. The images of cowboys, teddy bears, moustaches, and dinosaurs are created from various chocolate.
The most well known CocoAndre creation? The chocolate Louboutin shoes. The six-and-a-half size selection seems to sell best around the holidays, said Andrea Pedraza, the owner along with her daughter, Cindy.
Prices for the shoes range from 30 dollars to 55 dollars, depending how much details and additional chocolates included.
CocoAndre is featured on the Dallas by Chocolate Taste Tours which takes travelers to various North Texas chocolate destinations. Visitors sample everything from chocolate truffles to croissants and cake balls. Jeanine Stevens and Steven Doyle lead the tours, which include "Chocolate trivia" and a history of the city and chocolate.
Tours start at just $30 and include bus transportation, many samples, beverages and more.
