Josh Hamilton is drinking again, and it's not a good thing for him... not a good thing for the Rangers, either.

He's been sober since 2006, but a relapse in Arizona in 2009 and now another one at a local bar Monday.

Hamilton is in the final year of his contract with the Rangers, and wants a new one... and a long one.

It was thought by many that when the Rangers didn't sign Prince Fielder, Hamilton had a great deal of leverage.

That should all be gone now.

There's no way the Rangers can or should pay him what he's worth when he's always just one drink away from another trip to rehab.

Hamilton followed up that '09 relapse with an MVP year the next year, and maybe he can again.

But Josh Hamilton fights the demons every day, and they've managed to win another round.

Rangers team spokesman John Blake says the team is aware of a situation but will have no further comment at this time.

It's going to be an interesting start to this season for the Texas Rangers.
