DALLAS A two-year-old girl was recovering Saturday after tumbling from a second-floor apartment window in Southwest Dallas.

Family members said the toddler had been playing late Friday night at the complex on Outrider Lane when her mother told her sit and calm down.

The mother then turned away for a second... heard a thud... and looked out the window in horror to see her daughter on the ground outside.

The girl's grandmother, Rhonda Thomas, said they called 911 and an ambulance took the child to get checked out.

'She must have hit her eye, because her eye was really swollen from the fall,' Thomas said. 'Other than that, she's okay. She's in good spirits, and she's on her way home.'

A police report said the child required four stitches to her eye at Children's Medical Center.

The family said the incident was an accident. Child Protective Services is investigating.
