This week's special pet is Sierra, a seven-year-old female Golden Retriever mix.

She is very friendly and easy-going, sweet and loving, and gets along well with other dogs. She's great on a leash and a perfect companion for any family, big or small.

You will be able to meet Sierra or any of the other dogs and cats in need of a new home at the at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive in West Dallas at noon Saturday.

Call the SPCA of Texas at 214-742-7722 for more information.

The SPCA is excited to celebrate this year's Paws Cause: Tails of the West on Sunday, February 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sambuca Restaurant in Dallas for an evening of delicious food, drinks, entertainment and an irresistible silent auction.

Paws Cause raises funds for the SPCA of Texas' Mary Spencer Spay/Neuter Clinic at Village Fair in South Dallas, where spay/neuter surgeries and wellness care are provided in high-need neighborhoods to help moderate the stray animal population. Each year, the Spencer Clinic performs more than 11,000 low cost spay/neuter surgeries and your generosity allows us to continue positively affecting families and their furry companions.

Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at the door. For more information, visit the Tails of the West website.
