A portion of the Pier 121 Marina at Lewisville Lake collapsed Friday, apparently under the weight of sleet and ice on a canopy designed to protect boats from the weather.
On Friday morning, the marina tweeted this warning: 'Anyone staying on your boat please vacate immediately... Ice on the roof is causing issues which are dangerous.'
The marina said it is closed until further notice and a spokeswoman told WFAA.com there is no comment about what happened at this point.
From aerial views of the scene, it appeared that more than two dozen vessels may have been damaged by the collapse.
According to its website, Pier 121 Marina has slips for nearly 2,000 boats.
