Police are looking for a hit-and-run motorist who struck and killed a bicycle rider in Northeast Dallas early Sunday morning.
One witness saw a cream-colored Chevrolet sport utility vehicle hit the cyclist near a Walmart in the eastbound lanes of the 9300 block of Forest Lane at 1:22 a.m.
A police report said the man riding the bike was thrown into the air by the impact, landing face-down on the pavement. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second witness attempted to follow the suspect's vehicle as it turned south on Abrams Road, but its driver proved elusive after several blocks. The SUV was said to be going through red lights and traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police said the suspect's vehicle may be damaged on the driver's side as a result of the fatal collision.
The name of the victim has not been released.
