DALLAS Dallas police arrested a 21-year-old man on Monday who allegedly shot at officers on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and then led them on a brief foot chase near the Trinity River.

At about 2:11 a.m., officers noticed a four-door, black Nissan swerving out of its lane on the bridge. Police followed and saw muzzle flashes from a gun coming from the car, said Dallas police Sr. Cpl. Sherri Jeffrey. The bullets didn t hit anyone.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it reached the intersection of Canada Drive and Hampton Road, at which point two men hopped out of the car and fled. One, who has not been named, was arrested almost immediately and charged with public intoxication.

The other man in the car was 21-year-old Juan Delarosa, who made it 600 yards on his feet before police arrested him in the Trinity River bottoms with the help of the department s Air One helicopter, Jeffrey said.

Delarosa was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant, driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.According to county records, Delarosa is being held without bond.

Jeffrey said police found a pistol nearby. It's not clear why Delarosa decided to shoot at the officers.
