FORT WORTH A major water line burst late Saturday afternoon along Interstate 35W on the south side of Fort Worth.
The incident was reported about 5:25 p.m. on the northbound service road of the highway near the Felix Street exit.
Workers from the Fort Worth Water Department were at the scene to shut off the source of the leak, which sent liquid bubbling up from under the pavement and flowing across the road surface.
Several businesses are in the area, but there were no reports of damage.
Traffic was slowly getting by the scene of the leak, and motorists are alerted to continuing problems in the hours ahead while repairs are being made.
The is just the latest in a series of water main breaks in North Texas resulting from a number of factors, including extreme heat, shifting soil, aging infrastructure and construction damage.
