As this is broadcast, we're 48 hours away from the Texas primary election. It will send some candidates home, and will be the only race others run this year.
To get perspective, we asked two friends of Inside Texas Politics to share their insight: Democratic consultant Jason Stanford with Stanford Caskey and Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak with the Potomac Strategy Group. Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy joins ITP host Jason Whitely to ask questions about the very competitive Republican race for lieutenant governor and the ongoing furor over Greg Abbott's endorsement by controversial rock star Ted Nugent.

A new poll sponsored by The Texas Tribune and the University of Texas has shed a little light on how some primary races might turn out. The survey shows Republican Greg Abbott with an 11-point lead over Democrat Wendy Davis, and that's wider than last fall. Ross Ramsey, executive editor and co-founder of the Tribune, joins us from Austin for the discussion.

State Rep. Dan Branch is leading the Republican primary for Texas attorney general, but his old Texas House seat in North Dallas is now hotly contested. Three Republicans Court Alley, Morgan Meyer, and Chart Westcott all want Branch's job. Dan Koller, editor of Park Cities People, has tracked the race from the beginning and joins us to discuss the race.

It was the veto heard across the country, sending Democrats to the defense of staunchly conservative Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who vetoed a bill that would have let business owners refuse service to gays and lesbians and anyone else if the customers conflicted with their religious beliefs.
