ARLINGTON A tense, seven-hour standoff ended early Saturday following a deadly shooting in Arlington.

Police said a man identified as 20-year-old Donald Hunting allegedly killed his girlfriend at a duplex in the 600 block of Gemini Court at 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Almost two dozen neighbors were evacuated as a precaution as a SWAT team surrounded the residence and tried to negotiate with the suspect.

Hunting was finally taken into custody at 4 a.m. Saturday and booked on one count of murder. Initial bond was set at $150,000, police said.

The name the victim were not released. Investigators believe she had been killed during a physical assault on Friday afternoon.

The American Red Cross provided drinks and food to police and neighbors during the extended stalemate.
