HICO, Texas The small Texas town of Hico is bracing for an emotional week.

On Tuesday morning, fallen Hood County deputy Lance McLean will be remembered at a memorial service at the local football stadium.

Most of the town of roughly 1,500 is expected to attend, as are scores of officers and firefighters from surrounding counties.

"It's going to be big," said Eddie Needham, whose family is close with the McLeans. "He was such a great guy... it's very tough."

Flags are at half-staff throughout this town with the slogan, "Where everybody is somebody."

Needham said aside from being a great father and husband, McLean was a standout basketball player who was also active with Hico's volunteer fire department.

McLean was shot in the head on Friday after responding to a call near Granbury. He died Saturday morning.

The suspect, Ricky McCommas, also shot Granbury police officer Chad Davis before being killed. Davis continues to recover in a Fort Worth hospital. He could be released sometime this week.

The service for McLean will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the football stadium. Visitation is scheduled for Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Hico Baptist Church.
