SAN ANTONIO — A fast-moving fire reportedly took the lives of three people and damaged five homes southwest of San Antonio on Monday afternoon.
The fire struck homes in the 8100 block of Old Pearsall Road. High winds gusting to 55 mph helped the flames spread quickly from one house to the next.
Investigators believe the three deaths occurred in the home where the fire started.
One elderly woman who was distressed about the fires was taken to a hospital, but she is expected to be okay.
About 30 homes in the area were evacuated, with residents taking shelter at Southwest High School.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
