Dallas police are asking for the public to help identify five suspects who shot a man and stole a truck in the parking lot of a Far North Dallas apartment complex earlier this week.
On June 10 at about 9 p.m., four black men and a black woman approached the victim in the parking lot of the Forest Hills Apartments in the 9600 block of Forest Lane. According to a police report filed the night of the crime, he was taking some tools out of his vehicle when he found himself surrounded by the five.
One of the men had a black revolver aimed right at him.
With his hands in the air, the police report says the victim, who was not identified in the report, muttered, I'll get my money. One of the suspects shoved the victim while the man with the gun fired into his left leg.
Just then, the report says, a second witness walked up from taking out the trash.
Don't move, take it easy, the suspect with the firearm said.
Inside a gold Ford F-150 nearby was Hector Santiago, 30, trapped behind the wheel in the driver's seat. The report says the men ordered him out of the truck. He complied, and the suspects sped away toward IH-635.
Now, police need help finding who these suspects are. Department spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey says two of them were caught on surveillance video jumping over the fence to come into the apartment complex.
Those two suspects are also seen leaving the offense location in the vehicle they took at gunpoint, moments after the shooting occurred, she writes in an email.
If anyone can help police identify these suspects, you're asked to call the Robbery Det. Loeb at 214.671.3702. The surveillance footage is posted below.
