FORT WORTH Former Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector Betsy Price has won the race for Fort Worth mayor, but her 43 percent share fell short of the required majority of votes in Saturday's five-person race.
That means she'll face second-place candidate Jim Lane, the former City Council member, in a runoff on June 18. He got 26 percent of the vote.
The next step is to hit the ground running tomorrow, Price told News 8 late Saturday night. The citizens of Fort Worth have spoken that they want good, strong, efficient government with strong, proven leadership.
Lane said both top finishers face a challenge. What it means is that 50 percent of the people are not for any one of us, he said. Now, her job and my job is to get 51 percent.
The momentum is incredible, and we're just going to roll up our sleeves and start running again tomorrow, Price said.
