After months of rumors and carefully released press teases, Six Flags Over Texas has officially announced the opening date of the New Texas Giant roller coaster: Friday, April 22.
The coaster, originally constructed in 1990, was closed in 2009 in order to undergo a major redesign.
Some of the major changes to the ride include all-new tracks, a higher lift hill, a steeper first drop and turns with over 90-degrees of banking.
Six Flags says, the New Texas Giant has the classic features of a wooden roller coaster with the advanced scientific capabilities of a steel track fabrication.
Park guests will be able to ride the coaster for the first time during the weekend of April 22 through April 24.
