Timing is everything, and the reason Dallas Baptist University has such a good women's golf team now is because Mercedes Rios didn't have a very good year as a junior in high school.

Rios has exceeded expectations since arriving at the college level. The senior has nine career wins -- that's more than any other active player in women's college golf -- in any division.

Rios won her final tournament in high school when she won State for Colleyville Heritage, and she hasn't stopped winning since: Three times as a freshman; twice as a sophomore; three more as a junior; and once this year.

Nobody else playing women's college golf has as many wins as she does.
