FRISCO Frisco's Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended plans for a major thoroughfare that would run along the Dallas North Tollway and the new Dallas Cowboys headquarters and special events center.

The commission will recommend the city reduce the number of proposed lanes from six to four along Gaylord Parkway between Warren Parkway and Lebanon Road. The commission says the focus is on safety and keeping that area 'pedestrian friendly.'

The Planning and Zoning Commission says engineers have looked at this proposal, and they say six lanes may see higher vehicle speeds than four lanes.

Some residents who came out to the meeting Tuesday night were concerned about backups to the Dallas North Tollway and even Legacy Drive.

Engineers say four lanes should handle the traffic that comes from the Cowboys headquarters and the special events center.

'It will make for a more pedestrian-friendly and safe environment for when that special events center gets built,' said planning and zoning chairman Bill Woodard. 'People will be able to cross the road and get to and from the parking locations in a safer manner.'

The city will take up the issue in the early part of June.
