DALLAS Crowds at the 30th annual Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade in Dallas on Sunday had something extra to celebrate this year.

The gay community and its supporters say the festive event along Cedar Springs Road is all about diversity and equality.

'We're all working for the same thing,' said parade coordinator Betty Neal. 'It's no different than you and your family or him and his family; everybody wants the same thing. Fair and balanced, all the way across the board, is all we ask for.'

In June, the Superme Court ruled that the federal government must recognize same-sex marriages. On the same day, the high court dismantled California's gay marriage ban, widely known as Prop 8.
