McKINNEY City Council chambers couldn't hold everyone who came to Tuesday night's meeting in McKinney.
They were all interested in the future of the Samaritan Inn, Collin County's only homeless shelter.
The organization asked the city to rezone 15 acres to build another shelter. Council members voted unanimously in favor of the change.
The Samaritan Inn which says it had to turn away more than 3,700 people seeking shelter last year hopes to open an additional facility with 60 beds for families in the next 18 months.
Plano rejected a proposal for the Samaritan Inn to build a homeless shelter in that city last year.
