The Cowboys have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent defensive tackle Henry Melton.
Melton (@HenMel) tweeted earlier Tuesday:
'Thank you chicago for the best 5 years of my life!.... I can't wait to begin the next chapter of my life... With a star on my helmet.'
Sources told WFAA's Joe Trahan that the team is still working out terms of Melton's contract, but ESPNreports that it is a one-year deal with an option.
Melton will be reunited with Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli. Marinelli was the Bears' defensive coordinator for three of Melton's four seasons in Chicago.
Melton, 28, is four years younger than former Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Hatcher, who left for the division rival Washington Redskins last week.
The 2012 Pro Bowler was born in Fort Worth and attended Grapevine High School. He has recorded 15.5 sacks in his career. He played just three games in 2013 before a knee injury ended his season.
Melton was in St. Louis visiting the Rams when he made his announcement on Twitter. He also visited with the Vikings and Seahawks before deciding to play in North Texas.
