A Collin County teacher was jailed Wednesday and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, which is a first degree felony.

McKinney police said Princeton ISD employee Matthew Pappas, 30, was taken into custody around 12:30 a.m. Bond was set at $100,000.

"Due to the age of the victim, we will not be releasing any further details at this time," said McKinney police spokesman Sgt. Chad Barker in a written statement.

According to his online biography, Pappas is an 8th grade math teacher at Clark Junior High School.

Parents received a letter from the school to alert them that a Clark teacher had been "arrested for inappropriate conduct with a child." The letter stated that the victim is not a Princeton ISD student, and that the teacher has been placed on leave.
