Weatherford police and the school district have evacuated Weatherford High School to search it after a threatening note was found by a student Tuesday morning.

The school was evacuated Tuesday morning and placed on 'modified lockdown,' according to its website. The police and fire departments searched the school, and just before noon, faculty, staff, and students were allowed to re-enter the school.

"We appreciate the efforts of our local police, fire, and administration to assist us this morning, and we apologize for the interruption of the instructional day," the district said in a statement. "Please know that we will do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of all students and staff members."
