Rain drenched North Texas on Wednesday; many places received up to a half-inch of precipitation.
But on Wednesday night, the big story is the temperature.
While we basked in 80 degree luxury on Tuesday, the mercury will plunge more than 40 degrees overnight Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for parts of North Texas, including Denton, Parker, Wise, Erath, Montague, Cooke, Young, Stephens, Palo Pinto and Eastland counties.
The unseasonably cold temperatures represent potential danger to tender plants and vegetation planted during warmer weather.
The forecast temperature in Denton and Decatur early Thursday is 31 degrees. Other parts of North Texas -- including Dallas and Fort Worth -- will see lows in the mid-30s.
