DALLAS-- Three Dallas City Hall sources have now confirmed that the highly sought after gates at Love Field Airport will go to Virgin Airlines.
A memo from the Dallas city manager is expected to come out Friday afternoon.
Virgin America will sub-lease the gates from American Airlines. The airliner had launched a glitzy media campaign in efforts to win over passengers and the city of Dallas.
It even had the support of theU.S. Department of Justice.
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines had lobbied for those gates as well. News 8 caught up with Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly at a public appearance at Oak Hill Academy in Dallas.
Kelly says he has yet to be notified of any decision.
News 8 was also told that attorneys for Virgin Airlines and the city are still working through the fine print, but the official announcement is expected later Friday.
