A storm front that brought icy precipitation to parts of North Texas had cleared the area by Sunday evening.

Some locations to the north and west of Dallas-Fort Worth Decatur, Jacksboro, Vernon and Wichita Falls received an inch or more of sleet and snow accumulation.

Parts of North Texas remained under a Winter Weather Advisory through 9 p.m. Sunday, including Denton, Collin, Fannin, Lamar, Hunt and Delta counties.

A Winter Storm Warning which had been issued for counties northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area was canceled.

Temperatures fell through the day on Sunday as the storm system moved through. By 6 a.m. Monday, the low is forecast to be in the upper 20s, bringing the potential for icy roads and 'black ice' as accumulated rain freezes over.

The areas of greatest concern are Tarrant and Denton counties and locations north and west of there. Icy bridges and overpasses will need to be watched very closely Sunday and Sunday night.

It was primarily rain that fell in Dallas and Fort Worth during the day.

The City of Dallas had workers standing by to treat roads for possible icing conditions, but as of 5 p.m. Sunday, no sand trucks had been deployed.

The National Weather Service reported icing along the Parker-Palo Pinto County line and at Possum Kingdom Lake.

Almost 300 departures about 31 percent of the regular schedule were canceled at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Sunday as a result of the weather, but all runways and taxiways remained open. Most passengers were accomodated, so the airport did not expect a large number to spend the night in terminals.

There were no cancellations at Dallas Love Field. Southwest Airlines said none of its seven canceled flights Sunday were in Texas.

While DART's light rail system struggled during December's ice storm, the transit agency reported no problems with trains or buses on Sunday.
