IRVING Thousands pounded the pavement in Irving Saturday to raise money and awareness about global poverty.

The Dallas Partnership Walk and Run at the Irving Convention Center was organized by the Aga Khan Foundation, a group working to teach people living in third world countries how to successfully live off the land.

There also was a mock village inside the convention hall where students used interactive exhibits to explain what is being done in impoverished nations.

WFAA reporter Teresa Woodard was one of the featured media personalities at this year's event.

Last year's walk raised $790,000.
