A student athlete at Frisco's Centennial High School was hospitalized Monday after being injured during football practice.

School officials told firefighters that two students collided during a tackling drill.

According to a statement from City of Frisco spokeswoman Dana Baird, firefighters were called to the school at 6901 Coit Road at 4:26 p.m.

After an evaluation, a medical helicopter was summoned to transport the student to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for treatment.

The name of the injured student, the extent of his injuries and his condition were not available.
