SAN ANTONIO Alamo visitors celebrated Texas Independence Day with a wreath-laying ceremony Saturday, March 2, 2013 organized by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Members of the San Antonio Living History Association dressed in period costume presented the colors and also participated in exhibits on the Alamo grounds and at Alamo Plaza, demonstrating weaponry and answering questions about life in San Antonio de Bejar during the Texas Revolution.

Long lines circled around the Alamo grounds as many waited 3 to 6 hours to get a glimpse of William Barret Travis' historic "Victory or Death" letter on display through March 7, 2013. Staff said the wait is usually 1 to 3 hours on weekdays.
