DALLAS -- Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded to reports of a fire in a basement laundry room of the downtown Magnolia Hotel Saturday morning.

The alarm went out at 7:15 a.m. and the fire was reported to be under control about 30 minutes later.

Traffic in the vicinity of the hotel at Commerce and Field streets was shut off to accomodate emergency vehicles.

The Magnolia Hotel is located in the historic Magnolia Petroleum Company Building best known to Dallas residents for its red neon flying Pegasus atop the 29-story tower.
