What started as one dad's desire to share outdoor adventures with his daughter has blossomed into a relationship-development program for hundreds.

Today's Our Neighbor is Kipp Murray of Dallas, the founder of High Adventure Treks for Dad's and Daughters. He is an outdoors guru with a gift for enriching lives.

A 12-year-old girl conquering a 30-foot cliff on Mount Scott in Oklahoma is really nothing. An energetic seventh grader rappelling down a 40-foot sheer rock face - a breeze. The real magic can be found at the bottom of the cliff, when relieved fathers embrace the fact that their little girls are safe, yet ready to explore the world ahead.

And that's where Kipp Murray comes in.

He created a climate, where dads and daughters learn to commune with nature and each other a few weekends each year.

We put dads and daughters purposefully in situations where they have to work together as a team. They have to learn to communicate with each other, talk to each other, they have to trust each other and hopefully it will create a bond that will last them the rest of their lives, he said.

In this exercise, a blindfolded daughter learns to listen to her father and not the chaos surrounding her.

In another instance, the dads learn to listen to what their daughters have to say.

There's just a need for this and it's a great thing and we are being used as an instrument but this program is touching lives, said Murray.

Murray started the program 14 years ago when he realized his little girl was missing the scouting experience he enjoyed with his son.

Today, all grown up, Meagan becomes emotional when she realizes what her father created for her is really a gift to the dads and daughters who experience it.

It's just really great and it makes me feel good about what I've gone through with my dad. I love you, she said.
