ARLINGTON I like Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett. Not sure if he'll turn the team around, but he's a good guy in my book.

But when he's talking injuries... don't believe him. Listening to what he says is probably a waste of your time.

Linebacker Sean Lee is out for the season with a torn ACL. The Cowboys haven't announced it officially, but even the Cowboys' website is reporting it, and Lee has told at least one reporter he's having surgery in two weeks.

Fast-forward to the Cowboys' home run derby at Globe Life Park in Arlington on Wednesday, with the team swinging for the fences to raise money for the Salvation Army. (Barry Church won the contest, by the way.)

But several times, Jason Garrett would not confirm the information about Lee that was freely flowing in several places (including DallasCowboys.com, based at Valley Ranch).

  • 'Well, Sean's still under evaluation today, and we'll continue that.'
  • 'He hurt his left knee, and we're evaluating what that is right now.'
  • 'We're just going through the process of evaluation.'

'It brought me down,' said teammate Dez Bryant. 'I was very emotional because of the fact that he's one of the guys I highly respect in the NFL.'

Garrett remained obtuse.

  • 'So again, we'll evaluate what the situation is.'
  • 'Again, we're just evaluating him. We'll take the next couple days to make sure we go through a thorough evaluation.'
  • 'I'm not saying anything. We're evaluating what his situation is.'

So what have we learned? Sean Lee is done... bad break for a good guy.

And if you've haven't figured it out yet, you can tune out Jason Garrett when he's addressing injuries.
