FORT WORTH A memorial service ended late Saturday afternoon for a veterinarian who was murdered in Saginaw on March 2.
Deidra Blackmon, 33, was shot and killed in her car after a dispute at a gas station parking lot.
Almost 800 people attended services for Blackmon at Heritage Church of Christ in Fort Worth. One woman described it as a lovely and solemn service that lasted about an hour.
The pastor read letters from the parents of the victim. Mourners said the presentation featured a touching video tribute; one called it a "perfect" service.
Blackmon is survived by her parents and brother.
Police said Blackmon was shot while driving in a car with two friends. An argument with two strangers in the parking lot of a Saginaw convenience store preceded the road rage violence one week ago.
Two people were arrested in connection with the crime.
Details on a fund established in Dr. Blackmon's honor can be found at the website of the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas in Grapevine, where she worked.
