Dak Prescott honors late mother with pregame cleats

Tracing Dak Prescott's football roots

DALLAS - Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is honoring his late mother with his pregame cleats before Sunday's game against the Eagles in Arlington.

His mother’s name, Peggy Prescott, is written on the pink-and-white cleats and surrounded by hearts and kiss illustrations.

The cleats are part of “My Cause, My Cleats,” an NFL initiative to bring attention to philanthropic endeavors of the players’ choosing.

Margaret “Peggy” Prescott died of cancer just over four years ago, on Nov. 3, 2013.

In a video posted to social media by the Cowboys, Dak spoke about his late mom and his “Fight, Faith, Finish” foundation started in her honor.

“It’s my personal foundation to bring awareness to cancer. Cancer is real near and dear to my heart after losing my mom when I was 20 to cancer,” he said. “I decided to start this foundation last year on behalf of me and my brothers [and] what our mom meant to us to raise awareness for everyone throughout the country.”
