DALLAS, TX - Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage loves to put on a show and he had one at the House of Blues in Dallas Tuesday night. "The concept has Indy car history to it, but at the same time provides a new dynamic event to our fans as well as the drivers themselves," TMS president Eddie Gossage said. "It should be a tremendous show." Three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves said "probably in go-karts" was the only time he ever ran more than one race in the same day. He expects there to be constant competition with two shorter races. It's a great idea," he said. NASCAR chairman-CEO Brian France and Sprint Cup driver-owner Tony Stewart were also at the announcement party attended by more than 1,000 season ticket holders. Gossage told the fans that their season tickets would cost 10 percent less next year and that the price of concessions would also be reduced.
Gossage announced that Next year's April race would be held Saturday night April 9th, the first evening NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the track. The fall race will remain the same.
Another change in the TMS schedule affects the June IRL race. Instead of having just one race, TMS will host two races on the same night. They have never done that before.
