FORT WORTH -- Texas Motor Speedway has a warning on its website, telling race fans if they try to take 114 from Dallas to get to Sunday's NASCAR race, they'll be late.
Police also say it's the one highway to avoid.
"If you aren't coming to the race you should avoid 114, too," said Fort Worth Police Lt. Glen Edney. "When we are in contra-flow mode, we will divert you in here, even if you don't want to come in."
Police also applaud TxDOT's policy of writing into contracts that race weekends are blacked out for major projects near the speedway. Crews can work, but cannot shut down lanes, or do anything that will interfere with traffic in main lanes.
"That helps us out tremendously," Edney said.
Texas Motor Speedway's Friday night truck race was the fastest in history.
