Which team will win Super Bowl XLV?
FORT WORTH — ESPN has arrived at Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth to begin setting up for live broadcasts from Super Bowl XLV.
Two 18-wheelers pulled into the Chisholm Trail parking lot just after 11 a.m. Monday. A crew of about 300 people will build the massive set, including a huge stage, two Jumbotrons, a demonstration field, and flycams.
Live broadcasting will begin next Monday.
Sundance Square President Johnny Campbell said it's exciting to have this major attraction in town. He said it's just the beginning of all the entertainment awaiting fans in Fort Worth.
Area restaurants are extending hours, adding live music, and parties are scheduled along with many Super Bowl-themed events.
Campbell said he's also excited about introducing Fort Worth to the world , knowing ESPN will be broadcasting live images of the historic city starting next week.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made reservations to stay at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, where crews are planning to wrap the hotel with super-size photos of the players by the end of the week.
Fort Worth city leaders say the phones have been ringing off the hook since last night with out-of-state fans wanting to book a hotel. Availability is now at about 1,300 rooms, or about 25 percent within city limits.
Fort Worth city leaders say they're also doing a media "blitz" in Pittsburgh to get the word out to the Steeler Nation that Fort Worth is their home for the Super Bowl.
The city has even set up a Web site to make it even easier to book a room.
