The WFAA Bloggers' NFL mock draft

20. Tennessee Titans - DT Michael Brockers (LSU) -- SAM HALE

At this point you're getting into best player available territory. Both the Titans and the Chicago Bears (at 19) are rumored to want defensive linemen, specifically defensive tackle. A lot of people have Dontari Poe going in this area, however he's been selected at 15 in this mock. Assuming that Chicago will go offensive line, which they need just as much as anything else, Brockers could be ripe for the TItans' taking.

One of Tennessee's strong suits has been their defense, and this is a pick that will help ensure that. Brockers' name has recently popped as a low first rounder, even being faintly associated with the Cowboys, though from where they are picking it's widely agreed they can do better. He's an agile lineman has not had any known off field incidents that could lead to character problems. A big fellow at 6 ft 6in., he'd be a good fit to clog the middle of Nashville's line for a while.

We're less than a month away from the NFL Draft... and while some of you may scoff at an opening line like that, this is as good a time as any to talk prospects.

There is no element of talent acquisition more important than the draft -- those seven picks are a gift, and a gift teams treasure.

For evidence, just look at any trade involving a draft pick. Outside of truly premium players and (mediocre to slightly above-average) quarterbacks, most players will fetch somewhere between a fourth and sixth-rounder.

DeMeco Ryans, consistently one of the league's best interior linebackers, recently went from Houston to Philadelphia for a #4. Teams take the process very seriously, and draft day impacts the organization's destiny over the course of decades.

Our team of five bloggers rotated in making these picks. Each selection is accompanied by a picture, explanation of the pick and summary of the player. We're drafting not necessarily to duplicate the actual draft, but based on an evaluation of which players SHOULD be picked.
