The WFAA Bloggers' NFL mock draft
31. New England Patriots - RB Doug Martin (Boise State)
I'm pretty sure New England will sell their pick either here or at #27, but for the sake of this blog i'll predict they take running back Doug Martin. He can't really be considered a sleeper because he's pretty much expected to go in the late first or early second round, but he does have superstar potential.
Peter King of SI.com says one executive labeled Martin the "Ray Rice of the 2012 draft." Martin lacks breakaway game changing speed, but he does all the little things correctly. He is a capable receiver out of the backfield, can pick up the blitz, and is a hard runner. I could easily see the Giants snatching him up at 32 if he falls to them. He's not receiving the same degree of hype as Trent Richardson, but Martin will eventually start in the NFL. He seems like a perfect fit for New England, who relies heavily on running backs with the ability to catch as well as protect Tom Brady. -- KEVIN TURNER
