The WFAA Bloggers' NFL mock draft
17. Cincinnati Bengals- CB Dre Kirkpatrick (Alabama)
Another case of a very talented player who will slip in the draft due to personal issues. Kirkpatrick, a member of the Crimson Tide's national championship team, was a leader on that wickedly good Alabama defense. He was a projected top ten pick until he and a friend got pulled over with marijuana in the car. His friend took the rap for it, but the speculation and proximity of Kirkpatrick to the weed caused his draft stock to take a measurable hit. There are several reasons this works perfectly for the Bengals.
Kirkpatrick is a big player(6' 2"), and very physical. He's exactly the type of player that Cincinnati needs, and he's also the type of player that the Bengals have had a history of taking chances on.
Cincinatti is an organization that does not have a problem taking on players with past character issues. They'll be getting a good player as long as they are able to control his possible off-the-field indiscretions. -- SAM HALE
