DALLAS - TCU finally got their long-awaited introduction to the Big 12 this week.

Some of the players from West Virginia, which is also new to the conference, introduced themselves by singing the school song. TCU's introduction was lot more low key.

"Oh, there are a few more cameras, but that's okay. Yeah, I brought a piece of paper so I can get coach [Bob] Stoops and coach [Mack] Brown’s autograph," joked TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson.

Texas Head Coach Mack Brown had nothing but positive things to say about the addition of the Horned Frogs to the Big 12.

"I'm a P.R. machine for TCU," Brown said. "Who else has a school they want me to plug? OU? Ha, TCU is great, no ha -- a little humor, a little humor."

Stoops was a bit more serious in his response.

"I like TCU, proximity-wise for player’s families and for fans traveling," Stoops said. "It’s a positive."

Since the Southwest Conference folded back in the mid-1990's, TCU has been part of the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference, even the Big East for a while.

Now it’s on to the Big 12, perhaps the highest-profile conference of them all.

TCU won nine conference titles in 74 years as part of the Southwest Conference, which led to two national championships. The first was in 1935 and the second was in 1938.

But the two conference titles in five years in the Western Athletic Conference, the one title in four years in Conference USA, and the four conference titles in seven years in the Mountain West, never gave the Frogs a chance to play for a national championship.

If they can play well in the Big 12, that should change.

"Personally, I want to win a national championship," said TCU quarterback Casey Pachall. "Whenever it comes down to it, I want to win a conference championship first off, and if I get the chance for a national championship, I definitely want to win that."

TCU has already sold 30,000 season tickets and believe it or not, a waiting list for tickets is starting to grow.
