The WFAA Bloggers' NFL mock draft
25. Denver Broncos - C Peter Konz (Wisconsin) -- SAM HALE
The Denver Peytons(Broncos) chased Jeff Saturday in the off season, but couldn't reel him in. He opted to go play for the Packers, and who can blame him? Still searching for someone who will be a longer term solution at center, Denver reaches a little for Konz. On paper, the guy fits well. He went to a school well-known for producing offensive lineman, and his character is outstanding. He's started 30 games in three years as a Badger, and seems to project well as long as he was coached well.
What's the hangup? Injuries. Konz has twice had ankle problems, and also struggled with a dislocation and a sprain, In 2009 he had blood clots in both lungs. The ankle injuries are more concerning, because if you can survive blood clots in your lungs you're more than likely tough enough to handle NFL football in this case. Nevertheless, while this move would be considered a reach Denver, could use a center for the future to complement Ryan Clady on that offensive line.
