“I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not…..This is your team.”

– Gene Hackman as Norman Dale in Hoosiers

I believe, if given the opportunity, Rangers Manager Ron Washington would say something very similar to the fan base (mixed in with a few choice words) as we approach Opening Day. While the injuries continue to mount up, the 25 men that will suit up on March 31 are all actively working for another AL West title.

Whether you attend the game in person, watch on television or listen on the radio, there are plenty of familiar names in the lineup. Beltre, Andrus, Martin, Rios will be there with offseason additions Choo, Fielder and Arencibia.

This group will be tasked with an incredible mission: stem the tide until reinforcements can get here in June and July. This is no small feat, but the Rangers have a great motivator/leader in Washington, a creative and talented front office that will bring reserves, and an ownership group that proved this offseason (with the additions of Choo and Fielder specifically) they are willing to open the checkbook to help this team succeed.

With two American League pennants, three playoff appearances in four years and four consecutive 90-win seasons, why should we lack faith?

There is no "curse of Nolan" or bad voodoo with trading Kinsler. There is only bad luck. This team must play the hand they are dealt and will need all the support they can get.
