SAN ANTONIO -- Under Wade Phillips, we dubbed it "Camp Cupcake."
So let's call this "Camp Charmin," and nobody's getting squeezed here.
Not much real hitting going on. They are working with good tempo, so its good cardio, but you can get that on an elliptical machine.
And now they've moved their day off. It'll be Tuesday instead of Wednesday. So, on the seventh day of camp the Cowboys will rest because the new collective bargaining agreement says so.
"It's a good deal to have for us. I think guys understand you come to work and when you get time off we take time off," says Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.
But what about an off day so soon? They've had six days or workouts after an entire off-season of next-to-nothing.
"This is probably the first time ever I've had and off day in camp," said linebacker DeMarcus Ware. "We usually go all the way through camp without an off day. They'll say you get off and 7 o'clock at night right after practice and you'll wake up at 8am and they'll say that's your break."
Doesn't matter how hard or easy camp is, there's one sure-fire way to make an NFL player smile nowadays, just say you've got the day off.
"It's going to be great, I know that," said running back Felix Jones with his signature smile.
There is one practical matter of moving the day off, though. The new CBA could be ratified Tuesday, meaning free agent veterans could practice Wednesday giving those Cowboy players one extra day of work with the move.
