DALLAS, TX - What is it about North Texas that has become "THE" place for visiting teams to take home championship hardware and leave the home team empty handed.

When the San Francisco Giants won the World Series in Arlington on Monday night, it was just another example of to watch other teams celebratea a championship.

On Saturday June 10, 2000, one year after the Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup, the New Jersey Devils came to town and won the NHL Championship at Reunion Arena. It was the first ever final that featured two relocated teams playing for the Stanley Cup. The Devils won in six games.

Six years later on June 20, 2006, the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center in game six to win the NBA Championship. Dallas disintegrated by losing four straight after taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

Now that the Dallas Cowboys are off to a 1-6 start, we're virtually guaranteed that some NFL franchise will come to town in February and leave with the Lombardi Trophy on February 6, 2011.

It's not that sports fans don't appreciate other teams winning championships, but why do they all have to win their titles in Texas.

The Dallas Stars are the last team to win a league Championship in 1999. The Cowboys last won a Super Bowl on January 28, 1996 and have won only two playoff games since. The Mavericks and Rangers are still waiting their turn.

Sure the Rangers had a great run. We all enjoyed watching their unbelievable journey to the World Series. It's just a shame that the latest celebration had to take place down the hall from the Rangers clubhouse at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
