Did the Cowboys win surprise you?
Coming into this week’s match-up, former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy was asked if the Cowboys had any shot at beating the New Orleans Saints. His answer, “no chance!” Cowboys fans should be sending Dungy an early Christmas card.
“The coaches showed up a clip of Tony Dungy yesterday,” said Tony Romo. “Dungy was on there (television) and they asked him about our chances this week. He said, ‘no chance’, that was surprising from an ex-coach. It was able to motivate us. It’s funny; we usually don’t go into a game thinking we have no chance. But, a lot of people were thinking it.”
Romo finished tonight’s game with a quarterback rating of 104.0. It marked his fourth straight game with a rating over 100.0 – the second-longest streak of games with a 100.0 rating-or-better in his career.
While the offense was great, the Cowboys defense was better. Dallas only allowed three points going into halftime, and 17 total for the game. New Orleans scored fewer than 20 points for the first time in their last 23 games.
“When someone counts you out before you already play, that kind of puts gas on the fire. I think that is really what happened in this game,” said DeMarcus Ware. “Once we watched that tape and went to bed, we let it marinate in our heads. Once we got here, all the guys were quiet. I was looking around thinking, we’re ready.”
