The saga of Dallas Mavericks forward and reality show icon Lamar Odom took another turn Saturday morning.
The former Lakers star had been assigned to practice with the NBA D-League Texas Legends in Frisco, and was scheduled to be in uniform for a Saturday night game with the Austin Toros — but that is now off.
"Lamar Odom has been recalled by the Dallas Mavericks and will not be at the Texas Legends morning shoot around," said a terse statement issued by Legends spokesman Jay Martin shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday.
Mavericks spokeswoman Sarah Melton confirmed that report to News 8. "Odom is scheduled to be in uniform tonight as the Mavericks host the Utah Jazz at the American Airlines Center," an official statement from the team said.
He was indeed on the court Saturday night; shortly before halftime he was 1-2 in shooting and had one rebound.
The Mavs have been struggling since the All-Star break, and have now lost four in a row after a defeat Friday night at New Orleans.
Odom has played in 32 games with the Mavericks, averaging 7.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
A Friday statement from the Mavericks said the NBA veteran had been absent from recent games due to a "family matter."
